Oh Look, It’s Christmas Time

Has the frenzy begun at your house?

This time of year is such a mixed bag. It’s the excitement and anticipation of the season, the baking and

decorating, the seasonal beverages, caroling and family time.

It is also the melancholy of missing those who are too far away to share the time with you, or those who have passed on, the stress of the holiday schedule and the futility of coming up with The Perfect Gift for someone.

For those celebrating this season, there is hardly a moment to dwell on the pros and cons. The end of the month seems so far off and yet the date seems to sneak right up and jump out from behind the calendar square, yelling “Boo!” or “Gotcha!” or “Eggnog!”

If you’re waiting for me to get to the point and give you a tip for a stress-free holiday, prepare to be disappointed.

What I can tell you is this: in the history of history, someone not checking everything off their To Do list, or having a crooked centerpiece, or missing an Amazon delivery, has not yet caused the Earth to stop spinning. So, good news -you might get frustrated, but it really won’t be the end of the world.

Enjoy the wonders of the season, enjoy your people, hug those within hugging distance and take a few deep breaths.
