3 F-Words We Need to Talk About
3 F-Words We Need to Talk About in July
By pure coincidence, it just so happens that F words are my favorite. I didn’t plan it that way, but here we are, so we’re going to take a look at a few that are currently at the top of my list.
(Some of your are cringing at the thought of what’s coming next. Some of you went to get popcorn.)
1. Fortune
Fortune can mean a lot of things, like money or good luck, but the first thing I think of is, Cookies! First of all, if you’re having fortune cookies, there is a good chance you’ve just had Chinese food, so you’re already ahead.
Think about the simple pleasure of a fortune cookie; deciding who gets which one, the method of fortune retrieval (do you pry, crack or smash?), determining how much of the actual cookie you have to eat for your fortune to come true, trying to pronounce the “word of the day” on the back of your paper fortune, laughing at each other for failing miserably at pronouncing things, and reading the fortunes so that everyone can pause and reflect on their confirmation bias. Good times.
I save mine. I’m not sure why, but every now and then, I’ll grab one and read it. It’s kind of interesting, how often I can apply a random fortune to my situation, at any given moment.
Everything about that process is awesome. So awesome, that we now have National Fortune Cookie Day, so make sure you mark your calendars for July 20th!
2. Farragut
Named after the Admiral, not the DC Metro stop, the town of Farragut makes a seamless transition from West Knoxville, as you follow I-40 out of town. Home to such appealing attractions as Turkey Creek -which includes one of the coolest movie theaters I’ve ever seen, award winning schools, and Interstate 40’s Exit 373, this community is already known for being a great place to live, work and play! If you’re considering a move, let’s talk about how 37934 might play into your plans!
Unlike the fortune cookie, buying or selling a home shouldn’t be left up to chance. Not ready to settle on a zip code? Let’s check out your options!
3. FREEDOM.
Freedom is such a cool word. Just the mental imagery of bald eagles and Budweiser gets me all misty-eyed. Because, ‘Merica.
In our patriotic fervor, though, we sometimes lose sight of what it means to be free.
Freedom doesn’t mean fair.
It means opportunity.
Freedom doesn’t mean easy.
It means nothing’s stopping
you from trying.
Freedom doesn’t mean agree.
In fact, sometimes it means
disagree, and that’s ok.
Let us never forget those who’ve sacrificed for us and what that sacrifice was for. It wasn’t for you. It was for us. All of us.
