Three Great Places To Visit With Your Dog
For the outdoor enthusiast, there is no shortage of parks, recreation and nature-filled activities in the Knoxville area. If you have a canine companion, you’ll be pleased to know that there are some great places for you and your pupper to enjoy, together!
First on the list is PetSafe Downtown Dog Park, right in the heart of Knoxville! Depending on the time of day you visit, you may have to scramble for parking, but this location always seems to have an opportunity to make a new furry friend! There is a separate area for larger dogs and bags are provided to clean up after your pet. (Please do!)
A little farther out is Concord Dog Park, off Northshore Dr, right on the Turkey Creek Shoals. The beauty of this location is that, in addition to play areas organized by size, there is also a section of beach, for the water-loving pooch! The area is beautiful, and there are plenty of activities nearby for our two-legged friends, as well. Be sure to check out the skate & volleyball parks!
Our tour wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Knoxville’s very first dog park. Dogwood Park, on Bradshaw Rd, offers the refreshing amenity of its very own water fountain for the pups! You’ll find an entire acre of fenced-in fun and some awesome obstacles to try, if your pooch is feeling adventurous.
Many of our local recreation areas are dog-friendly, but be sure to confirm for new areas before heading out. If you have never been to a dog park and aren’t quite sure if you should go, here’s a list of great reasons for getting a move on: http://petwants.com/6-reasons-go-dog-park/
